Amma Sri Karunamayi is revered throughout the world as the Mother of Compassion and embodiment of divine and unconditional love. Born in India in 1958, her birth was prophesied by the holy sage Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi. Sri Ramana explained that “Tai” (the Divine Mother) was incarnating at this time to help heal the earth and would be born in an enlightened state. On Vijayadasami (the holy day of victory in the Hindu calendar), Amma took birth. After an extraordinary childhood, Amma surprised her family by renouncing everything and meditated in seclusion in the sacred Penusila forest of Andhra Pradesh. Over a decade later, Amma returned to the world and began her global humanitarian and philanthropic work. Amma’s charitable projects have been recognized by the United Nations – where she has spoken annually for the last ten years. Amma’s teachings center on Sanatana Dharma – an ancient path of high conduct and values that recognizes the Divinity in all of creation. Sanatana Dharma is not a religion but a way of life that honors all living beings, including the earth.
To be in Amma’s presence is a rare and inexpressible experience. Her aim is to remove suffering, and toward this aim, she has traveled relentlessly throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Australia, offering spiritual discourses honoring all faiths. Her individual blessing days around the world are attended by people of every religion and background. In India, it is impossible to get near Amma, as she draws crowds in the hundreds of thousands. At Amma’s last public event, the crowd reached over 800,000. However, in Austin, we have a rare opportunity to spend a few minutes with Amma receiving her one-on-one attention during her individual blessing day, Friday, April 26 at the Triumphant Love Lutheran Church. Countless individuals have credited Amma with transforming their lives after receiving her blessings.
Amma also offers meditation guidance that has provided seekers with esoteric knowledge, boosting their ability to center themselves and calm their minds. A tremendous opportunity to receive Amma’s meditation instructions is coming up Saturday, April 27 at the Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple of Austin. Half-day and full-day options are available to all – from beginner to advanced.
Amma’s global charity organization SMVA Trust (a United Nations NGO) has created free schools and hospitals for the poorest of poor. Her schools have rescued children from the cycle of child labor, and provided them with economic mobility. Her hospitals have lowered the infant mortality rate and brought treatment to those who had to travel many miles by foot to receive aid. Amma has also brought water treatment facilities to areas where water is tainted by heavy fluoride, poisoning inhabitants. Her wheelchair project has helped to make the disabled economically self-sufficient. In addition, Amma has led housing projects where flooding and natural disasters have wiped out large communities.
Amma has strived to impress that as long as the feminine and masculine energies remain out of balance in the world, the planet will continue to endure massive exploitation, violence, and disaster. As a result, Amma has conducted numerous Vedic prescriptions (fire ceremonies) to mitigate natural disasters and violence throughout the world. Austin will be hosting a fire ceremony Amma will be conducting Sunday, April 28 at the Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple of Austin and all are welcome.
It is a great privilege that Amma will be visiting Austin to offer her healing, guidance, encouragement and blessings. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience her tender and rare presence, as lives are protected and powerfully transformed in Amma’s rare presence.
